We’ve kicked it in to high gear this week getting ready for our Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan Cabinetry 101 Workshop this Sunday! With this weather, we couldn’t help but start a big project here in the showroom…rainy days call for projects! I don’t want to give anything away too soon, but I’ll at least give you a hint for what part of the YDI showroom is getting a renovation…

We’re about halfway finished right now, so if you stopped in to the showroom you could get a little sneak peek!

But back to Chalk Paint®!

All winter we have been teaching Private Mini Workshops on all sorts of techniques and on all sorts of pieces! We’ve had sisters, best friends, husbands and wives, and even individual classes. Even though we’re back in the swing of things with our big workshops, we can still do private workshops during the week, so reach out to us if that’s something that interests you…we’d love to have you!

Some of the projects might look familiar to you. We had a couple bowls, candle holders, and trays left from our larger workshops last fall/spring so we set them out on our big islands as kind of a “grab bag” for all of our mini workshop attendees. Some wanted bowls to set on their ottomans to catch remotes, some wanted pedestals to put underneath their dining table centerpiece, and some wanted candle holders just a cute accent in their home!

We have a blast in the smaller workshops and get to know everyone a little better than in our bigger workshops, but my favorite things about the small workshops is getting to see the process with everyone. We see them analyze the piece and try to decide what color and technique to use…usually in the larger workshops people at each table will talk among themselves to make those decisions. Then we get to see the joy up close when they see how easy it is to use Chalk Paint® and the creativity just flows after that.

We will see some of you on Sunday for the workshop, but if you missed signing up for this one be sure and keep an eye out for the announcement of more Sunday workshops for this spring! We will be heading to High Point Market in April which is where we get to go diving for all of the found objects that we bring back for the workshops…so keep your fingers crossed for us that we find even more spectacular things this year!

Until next time, happy painting!
