Yeager Design and Interiors has a new crush.

Don’t tell gold! We still love her dearly, but we have to dish on our new obsession: banana leaf print.

This throwback trend is a nod to the glam look of the 1940s, and we think this is an oldie but a goody.

While there are many adaptations, we prefer the original print with occasional variations, with true green leaves and white, black, or pink backgrounds.

The banana leaf print is taking the design world by storm. This nod to the 1940s Dorothy Draper style is chic, fun and whimsical

This fun, fresh, yet dramatic print is everywhere this summer season. We have seen it on everything from clothing and scarves (get a look at Carlton Varney’s fabulous scarf from his Greenbrier Hotel shop) to wallpaper, rugs, bedding, window treatments, art, accessories, and even tablescapes.

You may be thinking. “OK, this is just a trend, and I would never wallpaper a banana leaf print all over my walls,” right?

Well, I wouldn’t plaster it in every room, but I would certainly consider a bedroom or bathroom.

A bold pattern like this one really sets the tone for a room. Imagine a bedroom with this pattern on the walls and crisp white linens draped on the bed and furniture. I don’t know about you, but that puts me in a peaceful mindset of rest and relaxation.

We recently received some goodies from our Las Vegas market trip and were absolutely thrilled to get them out on the floor. The response by our clients has been nothing less than stellar for our banana leaf dining tablescape. With its touch of pink and gold, our table is whimsical, fresh and gorgeous.

Easter Accents at High Point Market never disappoints. This luxury bedding line isn’t afraid to go bold. We love their use of the banana leaf print on these Euro shams and drapery panels

Just looking at it makes me want to invite all of my best girls over for Bellini martinis and a night of laughter and fabulousness

This particular pattern is the traditional banana leaf with pink background on the accent pillows, plates, trays and napkins. It mixes ideally with gold platters, bowls and candlesticks and is completely on trend for the season. And while the look is over the top, the price isn’t.

One of the most beautiful bedding and window treatment vignettes we saw at High Point Market was at Eastern Accents. It is known for luxury bedding and fabrics. It used the banana leaf pattern in full-length draperies for a real wow factor. You could easily incorporate this look in almost any room in your home to add a bit of flare and interest while livening things up a bit.

The napkin rings and trays are just two of several adorable accessories we have in our showroom. We can’t help but dream of weekends at The Greenbrier when we look at our table setting

Like we always say, everything in moderation (except for gold, go all out with that one).

Do try this throwback on for size in a small area of your home to see if it excites you as much as it does the YDI team.

Don’t go overboard and wallpaper the walls, match the bedding, upholster the furniture and dress yourself in banana leaf print and wonder why it’s just not coming together.

This is a bold print that will easily stand on its own in a room application. We hope you’ve enjoyed letting us gush about our new love and look forward to dishing with you soon about future finds and installations. Happy reading, and happy summer.
