A great chair is a hard thing to find. It has to be comfortable, the right scale for your space and, most importantly, possess a style and fabric that will outlast the ever-changing fads and trends of the design industry.
We’d like to show you the impact a great chair makes in different settings. We’d also like to show you how — by starting with a good build and frame — you are setting your chair up for complete success with some gorgeous fabrics that range from basics and neutrals to prints and wild side fabrics.
Meet Logan. He is a wide body, low sitting, upholstered chair with lots of interesting accents and details. His front legs sit on casters while the back two are stationary. The tufted back pairs with a smooth upholstered seat and is offset with padded arms that rest on beautiful turned wood.
The exposed wood on this chair may vary slightly throughout our examples, but it is important to note that when choosing your own wood finish, try something that complements and mixes well with other wood tones in your space, not one that “matches.” And lastly, it comes with a kidney pillow, not only for back support, but also an accent for more fabric if you so choose.
We’ll start out with our first Logan. A tone-on-tone neutral beige and taupe wide stripe fabric was selected to make this option seem light and airy while feeling transitional and effortless. The coordinating kidney pillow was covered in the same wide body to provide consistency for this pattern. This option of Logan would be stunning in a home by the beach or adversely, a rustic chic great room paired with linens and leathers.
Our second Logan is bold and beautiful in a luxurious red fabric. This beauty brings warmth and comfort to any space it’s placed and would look right at home in a traditional room by the fireplace.
Our third “great” chair takes a bit of a walk on the wild side with its animal print upholstery and accent pillow. Some may regard this jungle-cat-inspired pattern as a bit too much for their taste where others would place this in their space and make it the focal point. While animal print is considered a pattern because of its neutral tones and small scale design print, it can be easily mixed with other patterns and colors in your space.
Logans four through seven are perfect examples of solid neutrals that can be put in almost any home or room. From the darkest option of black right down the line to a charcoal gray, a woven greige fabric, to the last one we like to call “brown sugar,” these chairs are lovely options to blend with almost any style of home and your existing furniture selections.
The unique option chosen for these Logans was to select an accent fabric for the kidney pillow that brings it to life and inserts a pattern on a small scale.
The last example, Logan #8, is quite possibly our favorite! This Logan embodies a small aspect of each example shown here. It has a neutral linen background, a pop of color in its turquoise stitching which looks a bit like an understated animal print or stripe depending on the angle at which you view it. It also has an accent kidney pillow fabric selection that somehow brings even more fun an glamour to this already chic and dramatic Logan. This option would be a great addition to a room looking for a pop of color and print to liven up a tired or dreary furniture scheme.
We hope you can see by these fabulous Logan chairs that it’s not about the “name” of your chair or even the style of it. These eight different fabric selections may change the look, but it’s the same chair underneath every time. A great chair paired with a great fabric, while being difficult to find for some, can be created with little effort when your resources are plentiful and right at your fingertips. A designer can be a great resource to help you in your search. Just be sure when making your selections to start with a fabulous frame, a comfortable sit and a fabric that is the missing piece to your collection!
