Whew! What a weekend!

Yesterday we came back from our winter hiatus of the big Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan Workshops and we had an amazing turnout! Over the winter months, we had so many people stop in to the showroom to talk to us about painting their kitchen, bathroom vanities, and/or built-ins. There was a consistent theme in these discussions…”I’m just so sick of the oak cabinets in my home!”

Well have no fear, because we are back in action and ready to teach you all how to transform the cabinetry in your home!

All set up and ready for our 18 wonderful women signed up for the Sunday workshop!

Our Cabinetry 101 Workshop is an intro to painting cabinetry but we also cover a lot of basics that we go over in our general Annie Sloan 101 Workshop. So even if you haven’t taken a general 101 Workshop, you can still come to a cabinetry workshop! We had all sorts of levels of familiarity with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan on Sunday. Some had never even touched a paint brush before and others had painted over 20 pieces! It just goes to show you that no matter how familiar you are with Annie Sloan, there’s still something else you can learn and you can always come out for a workshop to have a great time!

As always, my favorite part of these workshops is seeing what color people gravitate towards and then if they haven’t used Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan before, watching them get immediately carried away with their excitement after that first brush stroke. I love it when people choose fun colors, but in cabinetry it makes color choice a little more predictable. Something must have been in the water today though…we had ladies choose Duck Egg Blue, Emperor’s Silk, Aubusson Blue…I was in heaven!

So many of the women on Sunday were talking about how they wanted to keep their perimeter cabinetry neutral but really be creative with the island. We went over techniques that are best suited to cabinetry and aren’t necessarily the same ones we teach for furniture and accessories. Light standing, glazing, how to use the gorgeous colored waxes appropriately on cabinetry…just to name a few!

When you pop in to our showroom to buy your Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® and accessories and ask about online resources, we have a few to give and we discuss them more in the workshops, but there is nothing like getting tips and tricks in person. In our workshops you get an interactive learning experience and you get to ask questions…something YouTube videos don’t give you.

Check out all of these happy faces! It was such a pleasure to work with these amazing women on Sunday. It’s such a beautiful feeling to help you all have the confidence to tackle a project for yourself or for someone else. There is nothing like passing the knowledge along and seeing it blossom when they all return home and send us pictures of their projects in process! It’s empowering to be in a room full of women ready to accomplish something…we love it!

Be on the lookout for more workshop dates that will be posted soon! We’re heading to High Point Market next month and will hopefully be coming home with really interesting found objects for our spring workshops!

Until then…happy painting!
